Carsten Borchgrenvik
Norwegian born but made Australia his home. He went on an Antarctic expedition in 1898 which made the first landing on East Antarctica. He lead another expedition - "British Antarctic Expedition" to the Ross Sea region.
He and his men stayed at Hadley's Hotel in Hobart before leaving to Antarctica in 1898. While he was in Hobart he laid a wreath of remembrance on Franklin's square. He was accompanied by the scientist, photographer and writer Louis Charles Bernacchi. While in Hobart his expeditioners visited "High Peak" Neika, Hobart, Tasmania
